You need to choose what kind of manufacturer you will buy from. You need to decide if you are going to buy HP, Dell, Access, or Compaq Computer. You need to consider these because most Laptop manufacturers are not good product and if cares is not taken and you did not consider the manufacturer, you may end up buying a laptop that will not serve you the way you want it. As for me; I normally go for HP make do to their long history in the market and long lasting.
2. What Will I Use The Laptop For?: This is another good question you must seriously ask yourself before buying any Laptop. You need to know what you need the laptop for, what will you use the laptop to do? If you could not come up with a good answer as to what you will be using the laptop to do, I strongly advise you to consider seeking the help of an expert preferably a Technician first before you go to buy your laptop. a technician or a computer expert will make a good recommendation for you after you must have describe the nature or type of laptop you want to purchase. 
3. The  Laptop Configuration: This also another good factor that you must put into consideration before buying a Laptop, you need to know the system configuration of the laptop you want to buy like the  Ram Size, The Processors Type, The Size of the Hard Disk , WebCam Enable, Sound etc.
4. New or Fairly use?: You need to consider the type of Laptop you will buy either new or fairly use. As for my own opinion and recommendation, I strongly advise you to go for new one when it comes to buying a laptop as fairly uses Laptops tend to have a lot of problems associated with them.
5. Buyers Warranty: Another good thing you need to consider before buying a laptop from any dealer is the warranty that comes with the laptop. You need to ask the seller or dealer the warranty you have for buying the laptop. Some sellers give you a warranty of 6 month while others gives a warranty of 1 year.
6. Batteries and Charger:  Charger and Batteries are the two most important  things you must consider before purchasing any laptop, you need to know the battery capacity of the laptop you want to buy and how long it last. A good laptop charger can last for let say 4 to 6 hours when it is new. You need to know about the charger and even the changing point of the laptop.
